What Happens If Congress Will Not Renew ABS-CBN's Franchise

What happens if Congress will not renew ABS-CBN's franchise or issue a new one for the multimedia giant to continue broadcast operations?

The Kapamilya network will fully go digital utilizing online platforms and social media. ABS-CBN programs and shows will be available on YouTube, Facebook Live, Twitter, ABS-CBN websites, iOS and Android apps, and iWant.

We will bid farewell to traditional media as analog television sets and antenna will be useless. On the other hand, Smart TV sales will go up as it will be widely available and cheaper than current prices.

Because viewers will opt to watch ABS-CBN programs and shows on a widescreen Smart TV than small smartphone screens, the internet will be in demand and service providers will be forced to improve their facilities and infrastructure in order to extend signal coverage to far-flung areas to reach more ABS-CBN viewers.

It is expected that the increase in internet subscriptions will redound to better service and lesser cost.

ABS-CBN's flagship newscast TV Patrol was shown live on YouTube and other platforms Thursday night, May 7, 2020, two days after it has gone off-the-air following a cease and desist order from the National Teleccommunications Commission (NTC).

More than 200,000 watched on YouTube and 6.5 million on Facebook Live; add those who watched on iWant. This proves that viewers are ready to go fully digital.
