GUIDE: How to set up an ads.txt file on Blogger

Bloggers on the Blogger platform can now upload an ads.txt file from the root of their site thanks to the new update. Here's the guide.

Before we start, we would like to thank our friends at Ambient Digital Philippines and Gamma for the tip.

Ads.txt, is an initiative of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) to improve transparency in online advertising. By using it, bloggers on the Blogger platform are able to identify those who are authorized to sell their inventory.

The following is the step-by-step guide on how to set up an ads.txt file on Blogger:
  • Sign in to Blogger.
  • In the top left, click the Down arrow.
  • Click the blog you want to set up an ads.txt file on.
  • On the left, click Settings.
  • Under "Settings," click Search preferences.
  • Under "Monetization," find "Custom ads.txt" and click Edit.
  • Click Yes.
  • Copy the settings from your third-party monetization provider and paste them in the text box.
  • Click Save settings.
  • To check if it works, type your URL, add "/ads.txt" and hit Enter.

According to our sources, "if your blog is monetized with third-party providers or you have manually integrated AdSense in your blog, you will need to manually set up the content of the ads.txt file."

"If your blog is not monetized, or it is only configured to use AdSense using the Blogger-AdSense integration, then you do not need to manually set up ads.txt. Blogger will do it for you," they added.
