Cebu Pacific plane crash in Sultan Kudarat not true

The report that a Cebu Pacific plane crashed in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat on Sunday, June 14, is not true, based on the company's statement.

​"No Cebu Pacific flight is involved in a reported incident in Sultan Kudarat today," reads an advisory posted on the airline's website. "All Cebu Pacific flights are accounted for."

Earlier, reports that a Cebu Pacific flight crashed were spreading via social media. tried to reach the company through its Facebook page for verification, but our message was not returned.

Meanwhile, town mayor Helen Latog, quoted farmers in the mountains of Esperanza and said residents of Barangay Marquez heard a loud mid-air explosion at past 11 a.m.

She said residents had informed local officials that after the loud explosion, they saw an aircraft diving in the Daguma ranges of Sultan Kudarat.

Officials of the military and local government reportedly sent search and rescue teams to verify the report.

Brig. Gen. Noli Orense, deputy division commander of the Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said two Air Force Huey Helicopters were dispatched to the mountains but no plane was found.
