Viral SM bomb threat text alert: Real or fake?

REAL or FAKE? A text message purportedly warning people of an alleged bomb threat for certain SM malls in Manila is making rounds in social media.

It reads:

Guys, FYI please.
Sharing with you the alert news.

From SM Officers;
Hi guys! Just an update, we just got a call from abusayaf right now asking sm for $15million!! Dollars ha! If not papasabugin daw ang mall we have 1 week to do that so high alert kme now. tell your friends and co workers NOT to go to sm north edsa and Southmall for a week muna. Just for precautionary measures. Better be safe than sorry. Better avoid any SM branch for the mean time. Even if they are doing close security after receiving the call this morning.

Please DON'T post on your Facebook walls as per request of the officers. But do inform relatives and friends.

Got this earlier (better safe than sorry)"

A screenshot of the message was published by popular gossip blog Fashion Pulis earlier today.

We tried to reach SM management for comment. Their reply is as follows:

Hi, we are requesting the authorities to verify the source of the information circulating as said information was not released by any SM Officer. Thank you!

Is this bomb scare legit? Is the SM bomb threat text alert real or just a hoax?
