Girl 'raped' by security guard at MMDA children's park

A ten-year old girl was allegedly raped by a security guard inside the MMDA Children's Road Safety Park in Manila late Wednesday night.

Based on the investigation of the Manila Police District Malate Station, the girl was playing at the park around 10 p.m. on April 15 when the security guard called him.

The suspect, identified as Dennis Fernandez, 53, allegedly brought the victim to a dark area in the park and raped her, ABS-CBN News reports.

The girl's parents, who were looking for her at the time, were told that she was last seen together with Fernandez. They reportedly sought help from barangay officials and the cops, and eventually found the girl wearing the security guard's white t-shirt.

The suspect, who was immediately arrested, will be charged with rape and child abuse, according to the report.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino has yet to comment on the matter.
