Magnitude 4.7 earthquake shakes parts of Visayas

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook several parts of Visayas mid-morning on Monday, March 30. It struck off Buenavista town in Bohol at 9:47 AM.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the quake was felt in parts of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Occidental, and Capiz with the following recorded intensities:

  • Intensity 5 - San Miguel, Bohol
  • Intensity 4 - Lapu-lapu City; Buenavista, Bohol
  • Intensity 3 - Iloilo City; Bogo City, Cebu; Tagbilaran City; Bacolod City
  • Intensity 1 - Pres. Roxas, Capiz
Although some people rushed to get out of buildings and residences to find safer ground, no injuries and damage to properties have been reported so far.

PHIVOLCS added that no aftershocks are expected from the earthquake.
