Did American pop superstar Beyonce steal Filipino internet sensation Gab Valenciano's "Super Selfie" concept for her "7/11" music video?
Gab, son of "Mr. Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano, posted on his Instagram account over the weekend a snippet of the music video, which was released November 21st, with a caption that reads: "So this just happened. Still pretty overwhelmed. Check out the whole video on Beyonce.com #blessed #regram @beyonce," ABS-CBN News reported.
Many of Gab's IG followers noticed the similarity of the 33-year-old actress-singer's music video to his "Super Selfies." Some even said they wonder if his concept was stolen.
But Maria Rita Cecilia Arenas, Gab's aunt, reacted to the comments and reportedly said: "Gab was officially consulted by her (Beyonce's) team, so the signature moves weren't stolen. They were authorized."
A report aired Tuesday, November 25, on the Kapamilya morning show Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG) mentioned Gab as saying that he is very proud of his "latest achievement."
Meanwhile, Beyonce's "7/11" music video already garnered over 20 million hits on YouTube as of this posting. There was no credit or mention of a collaboration with Gab as far as the concept is concerned.
Some of the viewers commented though that it's not a typical Beyonce music video and it appears that she made it herself, just like a "Super Selfie."
