Philippines vs Puerto Rico Game Highlights (Video)

Philippines national team Gilas Pilipinas lost to Puerto Rico 73-77 in the 2014 FIBA World Cup of Basketball. Check out the game highlights.

Placing last in the Group B team standings with only 4 points as of posting, Wednesday's defeat means elimination of the Filipino squad from the international tournament held in Spain.

Philippines vs Puerto Rico was a very heartbreaking game. Victory was in the hands of Gilas Pilipinas in the first half. They were leading for two quarters, but fell short in the end game.

The offense was fine. Blatche had 25 points and 14 rebounds, while LA Tenorio and Paul Lee finished with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

Although they gave their opponent a helluva game just like their previous matches in the group stage, the nationals seem to have gone laxed on defense.

They also made too many turnovers including a crucial one by the naturalized player that led to NBA veteran JJ Barea scoring for Puerto Rico in the final minutes of the last quarter.

Barea scored 30 points for Puerto Rico. Ricky Sanchez and David Huertas contributed 13 points each.

Some netizens on social media suggested that Gilas Pilipinas has to replace its head coach with someone who has a better defensive system and train taller players to become more competitive in future tournaments.
