In its weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., the state weather bureau said the eye of Bagyong Jose was spotted at 770 kilometers East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

The tropical cyclone, which is forecast to move North at 15 kph, has no direct effect to any part of the country but the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is affecting Luzon, PAGASA reported.

State forecasters said the Ilocos Region and the province of Zambales will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains. On the other hand, Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the south to southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, PAGASA added.
