Missing girl found in CDO through Facebook

UPDATED (August 26, 2:00 pm) A missing girl was found by her family in Cagayan de Oro City after a netizen took photos of her and shared it on Facebook.

In the pictures posted around noontime on Monday by Marianne Agnes Labitad, a student of Cagayan Capitol University, the unidentified female looked like she was suffering from depression and mental blackout.

In a Facebook post, Labitad asked her friends to spread the photos because she believes that the girl is "missing" and "not in her normal condition." She said the girl won't answer when asked about her name and address.

Labitad added that they already brought her to the Cagayan De Oro Police Station 4.

The photos had gone viral quickly and sparked speculations that the lost girl was abused.

Some Facebook users said she should have been turned over to the DSWD for appropriate assistance while others suggested that she be brought to the barangay office.

Initially, it was believed that the girl was a certain Sofia Macayan, but it turned out that she was only a look-alike.

The missing girl was already taken home by her husband, Labitad said in a separate Facebook post.

A very reliable source told COOLBUSTER.net on Tuesday that the girl went missing at around 1 p.m. and was found Sunday night, August 24.

Her name is Chiqui (not Cheeky as was reported earlier). She is 24 years old and suffering from a "nervous breakdown" possibly due to personal problems, said a relative of hers.

According to our source, the family was very thankful that those who found her were kind people otherwise something bad might have happened to her.
