Scarlett Johansson returns as 'modern Marilyn Monroe' in cosmetics ad

Scarlett Johansson returns as "a timeless, modern Marilyn Monroe" in a new cosmetics television commercial for Dolce&Gabbana.

The minimalist video, which was published on YouTube by the Italian luxury industry fashion house Thursday last week, features the "Perfect Mono Eyeshadow" ad with the 29-year-old actress as its model.

"Against a black background, no one else but her: Scarlett," the description of the ad states. "Sensational, with expressive, playful eyes. Dressed in a polka-dot dress, she is a timeless, modern Marilyn Monroe."

It was in 2009 when Scarlett Johansson first emulated the looks of Monroe, who was a sex symbol in the 1950s and early 1960s, with her red lips and short blonde curly hair.

"All facets of the Dolce&Gabbana women are embodied by Scarlett Johansson in the depth of her eyes and the smokiness of her expression," the company continued. "The eyes are the mirror of one's soul and they are the true protagonists of these images."

The actress-model, who is married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, is currently pregnant. The make up ad doesn't require her to move much although it's a different situation for her movie, which will be released next year.

Scarlett Johansson is currently filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" where she plays Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. The producers have to deal with her pregnancy.

According to E!Online, the shooting "requires three stunt doubles for Johansson to hide her pregnancy curves."
