PAGASA Weather Forecast: Typhoon Florita (July 7, 2014)

July 7, 2014 - Monday's PAGASA weather forecast says Typhoon Florita has gained strength as it moves in a North Northwest direction.

At 4pm, the eye of Bagyong Florita was spotted at 500 kilometers East Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 20 kph.

The state weather bureau said Typhoon Florita will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the provinces of Panay, Mindoro, Palawan, Batangas, Cavite, Zambales and Bataan while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have occasional rains.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts have been advised not to venture out into the Northern and Eastern seaboards of Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas.

According to PAGASA, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite and Batangas will have monsoon rains. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and of Visayas will experience occasional rains. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, state forecasters added.
