Bagyong Ester: June 10, 2014 Update

Tropical Depression Ester has maintained its strength as it slightly accelerated moving Northeastward, PAGASA reported on Tuesday, June 10.

As of 5pm, the state weather bureau said Bagyong Ester was spotted at 200 kilometers North Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center. It is forecast to move Northeast at 22 kph.

PAGASA said Ester will be 700 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday morning.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 (30-60 kph winds may be expected in at least 36 hours) is up in Batanes Group of Islands.

State forecasters said the estimated rainfall amount is from 5 to 15 millimeteres per hour within the 250-km diameter of Bagyong Ester.

The tropical depression will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan, PAGASA added.
