Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire has become five-division world champion after he defeated African Simpiwe “V12″ Vetyeka for the World Boxing Association featherweight world title.

Following an accidental headbutt, the GenSan native sustained a cut after round 1 but sent down Vetyeka to the canvass in the fourth. The match was cut short after fight officials stopped the fight and decided to go to the score cards. The technical decision was made due to the accidental head butt as Donaire was deemed unable to continue due to an injury in the eye area.

All three judges unanimously scored the fight 49-46 in favor of Donaire.

During the post-fight interview, the Filipino champ apologized to fans for not giving them the "proper" fight they deserve. He called the match an "unfinished business" and said he's willing to grant Vetyeka a rematch.

With Saturday's win, Donaire's boxing record improved to 33 wins and only 2 losses with 20 knockout wins while Vetyeka dropped to 26 wins and 3 losses with 16 KOs.

A video replay of Donaire vs Vetyeka WBA featherweight championship match will be aired Sunday, June 1, at 10:15 am on ABS-CBN channel 2.
