A scandal rocked the PMPC Star Awards after veteran showbiz columnist and radio personality Jobert Sucaldito tweeted vote buying allegations.

In his official Twitter account, Jobert complained that some members of the award-giving body fooled and made him believe that his ward, multi-awarded actor Jeorge Estregan Jr. would bag the Movie Actor of the Year award for "Boy Golden."

He posted a series of tweets on Monday, March 10, which reads:

Pinaniwala ako that they will vote for my baby Jeorge Estregan for Best Actor for his sterling performance sa pelikulang Boy Golden.

Ganito kasi ang scenario - barely two weeks ago, some members talked to me at nagtanong kung hindi ko raw ba ila-lobby si Jeorge Estregan for best actor dahil ang kanilang napusuang rightful winner na si Joel Torre for the movie On The Job won't get the votes dahil hindi nila kayang magbayad sa voting members, I thought of something. Kung hindi rin lang mananalo si Joel Torre who is the rightful winner, might as well fight na lang for my anak-anakang Jeorge Estregan for Boy Golden dahil they said that he is next in line for Best Actor.

But how? I have to call first members of PMPC para makasiguro ako sa pagkapanalo ng alaga ko dahil PR man ako. That's part of the lobbying. I have to siyempre weigh first kung may laban ako. Since 38 lang naman ang voting members, I have to get at least a vote more than half of them - meaning, more than 19 in short. So I commissioned 22 of them bago ako sumugal. Huwag na nating pangalanan but worse come to worst ay willing ako to name names. Promise!

Kaso, ang 3 members ng executive branch nila sa PMPC named Mel Navarro, Roldan Catro and Fernan de Guzman are for Vice Ganda dahil mas nauna sila naka-commit doon. 16? In short, I already have the numbers.

I am an outsider of PMPC kaya I have all the right to lobby since hindi naman pala mananalo ang rightful winner na si JOEL TORRE, might as well to fight for second best and that's Jeorge Estregan dahil sila naman ang nagsabi. Pero ang nag-lobby kay Vice Ganda for Best Actor ay VOTING MEMBER ng PMPC na si FRANCIS SIMEON. Hindi ba sila nahiya noon? Nasaan ang delicadeza nila? Bawal iyon sa members to campaign for a nominee, di ba? Either he must abstain from voting for his ward for whatever reason. Nakakaloka lang dahil papaano nangyaring natalo ako when many of them committed with me for Jeorge Estregan.

Yung ibang nakausap ko who said na hindi sila maka-commit sa akin dahil nauna na raw silang pinakiusapan ni FRANCIS SIMEON for Vice Ganda (may bayad din po ito like what I did na pinangutang ko pa ha) were Rommel Placente, Mildred Bacud, Sandy Esmariano, Timmy Basil, Roldan Castro na co-chairman ng Star Awards, among others.

Okay lang naman ang lobbying pag hindi ka member and I don't care kung magalit sila sa akin - nanggagago sila kasi eh. Puwes, magkabukohan na tayo. VICE GANDA's winning was PAID. At lalaban ako sa isyung ito. I am willing to talk at any convenient time at paninindigan ko ito at any given time at your convenience.

NGAYON, NASAAN NA ANG TUNAY NA KREDIBILIDAD NG PMPC?!

After news about the controversy broke out, PMPC issued an official statement denying Jobert's allegations.

The Philippine Movie Press Club, Inc. (PMPC) is saddened by the unfortunate turn of events at the recently-concluded 30th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

Immediately after the awards ceremonies, a malicious allegation circulated in social media questioning the veracity of our Best Actor winner.

We strongly refute the said allegation. The voting members gave their utmost trust and confidence to the winners in their respective categories, thereby making the results final, uncontestable and sacred.

For the past three decades of Star Awards for Movies, the PMPC has weathered the hardest obstacles and has remained undaunted.
There will be forces that will try to destroy the credibility and reputation of the Club, but the PMPC will remain committed to its objectives, and no amount of intimidation and coercion can shake its foundation.

The PMPC, its Board of Directors and Members, will always stand firm on their decision.

Jobert's reaction on the PMPC statement reads:

I read the official statement of PMPC. For sure kahit sila mismo ay tumatayo ang mga balahibo pati sa kanilang kili-kili dahil they are composing a LIE.
