According to Yahoo! News, the “eerie and eye-catching photo inadvertently snapped” by June Emerson on Friday shows a suspected white shark lurking close to the shore.

Her 12-year-old kids, who were playing at the water, were purportedly unaware of the great danger nearby.

The mother shared the picture on her Facebook page and immediately received thousands of likes and comments. Many believe the captured image in the background is a shark.

“It was quite a shock to see,” Emerson told media. “Many local surfers and lifeguards have seen this and believe it to be a shark...of course, I told my kids it was dolphin, as we live at the beach and are in the waters here almost daily.”

Emerson added she just pretended it was a “friendly dolphin passing by,” the report said.

The shark photobomb has drawn interest among online users in the U.S. as the rare image go viral during the holiday.
