The sports website hailed Roach’s performance after the impressive victories of three of his trainees including 8-division world champion Pacquiao.

SI said that amid Roach’s three consecutive defeats in 2012, he was able to bounce back and help Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Ruslan Provodnikov move their respective careers forward.

“Roach is no stranger to this award and this year he is as deserving as ever. In addition to rebuilding Manny Pacquiao after a brutal knockout from Juan Manuel Marquez last year, Roach re-energized Miguel Cotto and developed Ruslan Provodnikov into a junior welterweight titleholder,” SI staff Chris Mannix wrote.

Meanwhile, hailed Adonis Stevenson as “Fighter of the Year” and the breathtaking showdown of Timothy Bradley and Provodnikov was chosen as “Fight of the Year.”
