Winamp Shutting Down: Media Player No Longer Downloadable After Dec. 20

Winamp is shutting down after one and a half decade. The media player music lovers use will no longer be downloadable after December 20.

In an announcement posted on its website, Winamp said:

“Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release. Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years.”

The reason why Winamp is shutting down is not known.

Online, users of the popular media player expressed sadness over the forthcoming Winamp shutdown, saying they’ve been using it for years and they hate to see it go.
