Typhoon Yolanda update: Death toll rises to 5,598

Typhoon Yolanda update: The death toll for the strongest cyclone that ever hit the country has risen to 5,598 according to the NDRRMC.

In its situational report issued 6am of Friday, November 29, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council says almost five thousand six hundred individuals were reported dead, 26,136 were injured and 1,759 others are still missing.

More than 2.3 million families or 10.9 million people have been affected in 44 provinces and 57 cities, the Council reported.

Out of the total, the NDRRMC says 835,379 families were displaced and served inside and outside evacuation centers.

The cost of damages resulting from the effects of Typhoon Yolanda now total P27,839,205,377, the agency added.
