The Korina Sanchez vs Andersoon Cooper issue started after the Kapamilya senior correspondent bashed the international news personality during her DZMM radio program over the latter’s no holds barred reporting of the miserable situation in Tacloban City, which was hardly hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda recently.

“Itong si Anderson Cooper, sabi wala daw government presence sa Tacloban. Mukhang hindi niya alam ang sinasabi niya. (This Anderson Cooper. He said there was no government presence in Tacloban. It seems he doesn’t know what he is saying,” Korina said on-air Wednesday afternoon.

Two days later, Cooper made a statement as a reaction to Korina’s remarks, saying:

“A radio broadcaster named Korina Sanchez has taken issue with some of my reporting. She also is not just a radio broadcaster; she also happens to be the wife of the interior minister (DILG secretary Mar Roxas) who is overseeing the relief effort on the ground. Miss Sanchez seems to be under the mistaken impression that I said I saw no presence of Philippine government on the ground in Tacloban. I never said that.”

Earlier, the CNN anchor had said:

“Obviously, I’ve been on the ground in Tacloban for days and I’ve, in fact, interviewed a very heroic Philippine Navy captain, Captain Santiago, who’s going out and helping people. I’ve seen the work that’s being done and the work that’s not being done.”

Cooper challenged Korina to visit the disaster-hit city of Tacloban.

“Miss Sanchez is welcome to go there and urged to go there. I don’t know if she has but her husband is in charge I’m sure he can arrange her flight,” he added.

According to an INQUIRER.net report, Korina had been deployed to Ormoc City on Thursday night. The news outlet, however, wasn’t able to reach her for comment.

The ABS-CBN newscaster, her talent manager GR Rodis told the publication, was “busy distributing relief goods either in Samar or in Northern Cebu. She told me her signal would be spotty.”
