Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged brains of the pork barrel scam, appeared at the Senate hearing Thursday, November 7. View live streaming.

At around 10am, the blue ribbon committee commenced its sixth hearing on the alleged misuse of the multi-billion Priority Development Asssistance Fund (PDAF), which Napoles purportedly masterminded.

The accused sat beside Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and infront of whistleblowers Benhur Luy, Mary Arlene Baltazar, Marina Sula, Merlina Suñas, Gertrudes Luy and Simonette Briones.

Senator TJ Guingona, the committee chairman, said he expects that the senate inquiry in aid of legislation would be able to help them complete a picture on how public funds went to the wrong hands and to formulate measures that will prevent it from happening again in the future.

However, Napoles invoked her right against self-incrimination most of the time throughout the hearing. She denied setting up fake non-government organizations (NGOs) and belied the statements of her accusers.
