UAAP 76 Finals 2013: UST vs DLSU Game 1 Result, Video Replay

Wednesday saw an exciting and breathtaking game between the University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle University held at the jampacked Smart Araneta Coliseum where more than 25,000 spectators watched the October 2 sporting event.

Although UST was in the driver’s seat with a 10-point lead over DLSU in the first period, both teams exchanged leads in most of the quarters, making the championship match tight and providing the highly energized crowd and the million televiewers watching at home a thrilling experience.

One of the highlights for the game was Arnold Van Opstal’s slam dunk at minutes before the first-half ended.

The Teng brothers Jeric and Jeron were caught on cam playing physical against each other, establishing their rivalry in the hardcourt.

Kevin Ferrer, who in a media interview said he believes his team is “destined to win the title,” hit a 3-pointer under a minute to go in the final quarter.

DLSU had a chance to win with a steal at crunchtime, but Almond Vosotros and LA Revilla missed a couple tries.

Scores per quarter: UST vs DLSU 23-13, 38-31, 50-54, 73-72. UST has taken Game 1 of the UAAP 76 Finals; the Tigers lead the best-of-three series 1-0.
