Some local government units in earthquake-stricken areas in Visayas on Tuesday have declared suspension of classes on October 16, 2013.
The first LGU to announce class suspensions is Cebu City.
According to a Twitter post of the Philippine Information Agency (@PIACentralViz) in Central Visayas, Cebu City mayor Mike Rama declared no classes in all public and private schools on Wednesday.
Cebu is situated at West of Bohol where a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck in Carmen town.
The PIA reported that damages in Cebu City due to the strong quake include the collapse of Country Mall’s skywalk, and cracks in the Sto. Niño Church and a Cebu Doctors University building.
The agency added that part of the main road along Plaza Independencia was impassable while entrance near TimeZone in Ayala Mall suffered damages.
