The Voice of the Philippines grand finalists named

The grand finalists of “The Voice of the Philippines” have been named! They are Mitoy, Myk Perez, Klarisse de Guzman and Janice Javier.

The first two performers came from Team Lea Salonga. Mitoy Yonting sang his version of “Power Of Love” while Radha performed “Let It Be.” Both received a standing ovation from the live audience.

During the à la Battles night on Saturday, Mitoy and Radha had a duet of “Against All Odds,” which was considered by many as among the best performances in the entire season.

The third and fourth performers were from Team Bamboo. While singing “Baby, I Love Your Way,” Myk Perez serenaded Coach Sarah Geronimo, even reaching a point where he changed the lyrics of the song just to insert the name of the Pop Star Princess.

Paolo Onesa followed. He sang “Elesi,” a song originally performed by coach Bamboo Mañalac when he was still the lead vocalist of the Filipino rock band Rivermaya.

Myk and Paolo chose “Change the World” for their duet last night.

Singers from Team Sarah were next in line. Morissette Amon sang “Who You Are,” which is an “amazing performance” according to Coach Apl De Ap. Meanwhile, Coach Sarah told Morisette she’s “going to be a star no matter what happens.”

The Beegees hit “To Love Somebody” was Klarisse de Guzman’s semifinals contest piece. Her mom revealed Klang-Klang was very nervous backstage, but said she was happy her daughter made it.

Morisette and Klarisse collectively belted out “The Voice Within” on Saturday night. It was one of the most solid performances over the weekend based on what netizens posted on social networking sites.

The last batch of solo performers were from Team Apl. Veteran vocal coach Thor Dulay dedicated his song “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” to “struggling musicians.”

Professional singer Janice Javier, on the other hand, performed her own version of “Imagine” for her “cool dad,” her “musical inspiration,” who traveled from abroad just to see his daughter during the live show.

Thor and Janice, who jokingly dubbed their loveteam “JaniThor,” freshened up the weekend with their rendition of “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Saturday.

At the end of the September 22 spectacle, “The Voice of the Philippines” announced the Top 4 performers who will advance to the grand finale, which will take place on September 28 and 29, 2013.
