A photo showing President Benigno Aquino III posing with the daughter of alleged “pork barrel scam” mastermind Janet Napoles has surfaced.
The president’s controverial picture with Jeane Napoles made its way on national television Wednesday night, September 11, via a report aired on ABS-CBN’s primetime news program “TV Patrol.”
According to the exclusive report, the picture was taken in Cebu when PNoy attended the thanksgiving mass for the canonization of Saint Pedro Calungsod in November last year.
The photo surfaced amid speculations that Aquino personally knew Janet Lim Napoles, which the president shrugged off.
In an interview after the 7th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting held in Makati City recently, Aquino told reporters that he does not recall meeting the businesswoman before the alleged misuse of P10-Billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) was exposed.
“I was trying to look at her and I don’t remember her,” said Aquino, noting that Napoles didn’t look familiar when she surrendered to him at the Palace.
Malacañang did not deny that Aquino had a picture with Napoles’ daughter, but said “it’s no big deal.”
