It was a tight first half. Philippines started strong but Korea relied on their outside shooters to stay ahead by a small margin.

At the second quarter, everyone started to worry when Marcus Douthit was subbed out due to a leg injury. However, Marc Pingris stepped up his offense and gunned for a double digit to keep the Philippines alive.

The nationals started strong in the third period. Jayson Castro led the attack and had an 8-0 run in the early minutes of the quarter.

A lot of times apparent bad officiating occured. The Filipinos played with heart and kept the lead even without Douthit at the center because of injury. Jayson Castro and Pingris joined forces to carry the team on their shoulders. Japeth Aguilar had a highlight slam dunk.

Jimmy Alapag started to energize the team with a 3-point shot. Pingris made a big steal and Ranidel De Ocampo successfully sank a three-pointer. Alapag played well at crunchtime.

Gilas was ahead by five less than a minute to go in the final period. Pingris made a very important defensive stance against Korea. He, Alapag and Castro were among the heroes for the game, but the rest of the team exerted everything they can to win the match.
