Suspension of Classes, July 16, 2013 due to Isang #walangpasok

LGUs in areas with storm warning signals on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, can declare automatic suspension of classes based on guidelines.

The Department of Education says class suspensions are declared by the local government unit in accordance with Executive Order No. 66, issued by President Benigno Aquino III.
  • Signal No. 1 - No classes in Kindergarten
  • Signal No. 2 - No classes in Kindergarten, Elementary and High School
  • Signal No. 3 - No classes in ALL LEVELS including tertiary level

Earlier today, PAGASA placed a dozen areas under signal number 1 due to Tropical Depression Isang.

It means there should be no classes in the kindergarten level in schools located in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Ifugao, Cagayan incl. Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Mt. Province, Kalinga, and Apayao.

DepEd earlier said the LGU has the discretion to suspend classes automatically in areas where there’s flooding or inclement weather, even without a storm warning signal.
