Nokia Lumia 1020, Windows Phone with 41 megapixel camera, launched

Nokia launched Thursday the Lumia 1020 Windows Phone with a 41-megapixel rear camera and an HD 1.2 megapixel wide angle front camera.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone comes with a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with ClearBlack and super-sensitive touch screen technology. It sports a 41 MP camera sensor with PureView and Xenon flash.

Powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, the new smartphone is wireless charging-enabled and has a built-in NFC chip that will allow secure payment, sharing, pairing, and tagging. It’s just 10.4 millimeters thick and has a weight of only 158 grams.

The LTE-capable smartphone can connect to other devices using USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 as well as Wi-Fi Channel bonding for wireless connectivity.

The Windows Phone 8-operated smartphone can store data in device and on the cloud. It has a 2 GB RAM, 32 GB mass memory and also provides users 7 GB of free SkyDrive storage.

What about price and availability?

Reports said the Nokia Lumia 1020 will sell exclusively at AT&T in the US for $299.99 with a two-year contract. According to various sources, pre-orders will begin on July 16 and the phone will be available online and in stores 10 days after.
