How To: Replace @sharethis at end of tweet with your own Twitter handle

This is a simple tutorial on how to replace “@sharethis” with your own Twitter handle when users share your content through ShareThis.

According to ShareThis support team, “@handlename” is automatically appended at the end of the message after the title and url of the tweet.

From @sharethis, you can change it to your own handle name, as shown in the sample screenshots.

How to do this? Just use the following span tag:

<span class='st_twitter_hcount' st_via='username'></span>

For the vertical count, replace 'st_twitter_hcount' with 'st_twitter_vcount'.

You can also remove the handlename by leaving the span tag blank (st_via='').

For Blogger users, you can implement the changes by following these steps:
  1. Log into your Blogger account;
  2. In the dashboard, go to Template and then Edit HTML;
  3. Backup your template before doing any changes;
  4. Click an empty space in the template and find (Ctrl+F) span class='st_twitter_hcount' or span class='st_twitter_vcount';
  5. After a single space, put the span tag st_via='username' beside it;
  6. Click Save template and you’re done.
