“I only have one statement. I told the criminals not to f*** it here in Davao,” said Duterte, who is also known for having a sharp tounge against criminals, in an interview with media.

The straightforward local chief executive rushed to the scene just a few meters away from Allied Bank along Claveria Street where the deadly encounter between local police and members of the “Bye-Bye” kidnap-for-ransom group took place Thursday afternoon.

Two suspected kidnappers died on the spot while another one was wounded, but was reportedly declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The death toll in the shootout is three.

Reports said Duterte ordered the lockdown of all exit points in the city while authorities are tracking down the rest of the abductors, who kidnapped the now 52-year-old businesswoman in Quezon City last July 5. Chua is celebrating her birthday today.

The brave kidnapping victim was able to successfully ‘trick’ her abductors, convincing them that she will pay P15 million for her release only in Davao.

“She was confident that she will be rescued here,” Davao City Police director Senior Supt. Ronald dela Rosa told reporters.
