Automatic suspension of classes in the kindergarten level should be observed in areas where there’s Signal No. 1 due to Bagyong Isang.

Local government units (LGUs) in areas affected by Tropical Depression Isang may declare automatic suspension of classes per Executive Order No. 66, issued by President Benigno Aquino III.
  • Signal No. 1 - No classes in Kindergarten
  • Signal No. 2 - No classes in Kindergarten, Elementary and High School
  • Signal No. 3 - No classes in ALL LEVELS including tertiary level
At 4am today, state weather bureau PAGASA placed more than a dozen areas under Signal Number 1.

Based on guidelines, classes in the kindergarten level in schools in Aurora, Quirino, Isabela, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Calayan, Babuyan Group of Islands, and Batanes Group of Islands must be suspended.

The education department earlier said the LGU has the discretion to suspend classes automatically in areas where there’s bad weather or flooding, even without a storm signal.
