UP, Ateneo, UST, La Salle, USeP among Top 300 universities in Asia | 2013 rankings

Five schools in the Philippines—UP, Ateneo, UST, La Salle, and USeP—are recognized as among the best in Asia, according to the 2013 QS University Rankings.

PhilStar.com reports that University of the Philippines (UP) ranks 67th; followed by Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) at 109th; University of Santo Tomas (UST) at 150th; De La Salle University (DLSU) at 151st-160th; and University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) at 251st-300th.

From number 68 last year, UP improved a notch higher. ADMU and DLSU dropped from 86th place and 142nd place, respectively, while UST suffered a 2-notch decline. USeP’s ranking didn’t move, the report said.

To come up with the list, QS used a methodology with nine indicators: Academic reputation from global survey (30 percent), employer reputation from global survey (10%), papers per faculty (15%), citations per paper (15%), faculty student ratio (20%), proportion of international students (2.5%), proportion of international faculty (2.5%), proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%) and proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%), the report concluded.
