Three beaches in the Philippines—Palau Island in Cagayan Valley, El Nido in Palawan, and Puka beach in Boracay—have been recognized by CNN as among the best in the world.
The international news organization recently released its 2013 list of the best 100 beaches in the world.
Palau landed on the 10th spot, for its “glorious white sand, volcanic rocks and blue green water.” Tourists who love diving said they enjoyed the white corals and rich marine species in Palau beach.
El Nido is listed at number 14 and cited for “its powder-fine sand, gin-clear water, stunning views of karst limestone formations, lagoons and prehistoric caves.”
CNN’s travel website ranks Puka beach, the second longest beach in Boracay, as No. 84 “for its puka shells which are being made into jewelry accessories and ornaments.”
Malacañang is elated over the good news. Citing a report from the Department of Tourism, the Palace said foreign visitor arrivals reached 1,649,458 million during the first four months of 2013, which translates to a 10.12 percent increase from the same period last year.
