MV Lady Of Carmel Missing Passengers Named

The MV Lady Of Carmel missing passengers have been named. Among the 7 identified, 4 have claimants while only 3 were listed in the manifest.

In a progress report released over the weekend, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) labeled the following as “missing”:
  • Abegail Barredo, 19
  • Noan Manocan, 25
  • Fe Rapsing
  • Leticia Andaya, 78
  • Jonas Comidor
  • Arianne Comidor
  • Jocelyn Danao
Only the names of Barredo, Manocan, and Andaya can be found in the passenger manifest while the rest are unlisted, the NDRRMC said. Search and rescue operations are underway, the council added. Latest reports said it has now shifted to search and retrieval.

The MV Lady of Carmel reportedly capsized at the vicinity of Claveria, Burias Island in Masbate around 5:45 a.m. on Friday, June 14.

NDRRMC said a total of 70 persons were aboard when the incident took place. More or less 35 were manifested passengers and 22 were crew members. The roll-on/roll-off vessel was carrying 2 buses and a 6-wheeler truck when it sank.

The fatalities were identified as Carlota Senga (58) and Erlinda Julbitado (59). Both died due to drowning, the NDRRMC reported.
