Earthquake hits Polillo, Quezon | Magnitude-4.4 quake jolts Manila, some parts of Luzon (June 19, 2013)

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has occured 40 kilometers Northeast of Polillo, Quezon at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013. The quake also jolted Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon including Batangas and Camarines Sur.

In an advisory, PHIVOLCS said the shallow quake was tectonic in origin and has a depth of 5 kilometers from the surface.

According to PHIVOLCS director Renato Solidum, Intensity 3 was felt in Quezon City and Infanta, Quezon, and Intensity 2 in Makati, Taguig, and Muntinlupa. He said aftershocks are not expected.

Earlier at 4:30 p.m., PHIVOLCS recorded a magnitude 4.3 earthquake, also tectonic in origin, with a depth of 2 kilometers West of Jabonga, Agusan Del Norte. The agency added that Intensity 2 was felt in Surigao City.

As of this posting, there were no reports of damages and casualties from both incidents.
