Azkals receive rude treatment from HK football fans | Video replay

Philippines defeated Hong Kong 1-0 in a recent football friendly. The game was historical as it was the first time for the Azkals to beat Hong Kong, but it wasn’t really a friendly match.

Here’s a video replay:

In a live interview on ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Friday, June 7, Azkals team manager Dan Palami said Chinese fans didn’t take the loss well.

According to Palami, Hong Kong fans were making noise and booed very loudly that the Azkals and Filipino fans were not able to hear the Philippine national anthem clearly.

Allegedly, the home crowd threw dirty fingers and, worse, mineral bottles at Azkals players and Filipino fans, most of whom were women and children. They also reportedly called the Philippines a “nation of slaves.”

In a Twitter post earlier, Palami said it was unfortunate that the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA), who treated the Azkals well, “could be dragged down by the actions of unruly and hostile fans.”

Various reports said the HKFA will investigate the incident after the Azkals received rude treatment from Hong Kong football fans.
