$590 Million Jackpot Finally Claimed

The $590 million Powerball jackpot winner finally came forward with family members and a lawyer to claim her multi-million prize, officials of the Florida Lottery said.

The Associated Press via Yahoo! News shared the details in a report.

The woman’s personal information was not immediately disclosed, but lottery officials reportedly said she comes from Zephyrhills, Florida, where the ticket was sold on May 18 at a Publix supermarket.

Lottery winners cannot remain anonymous as mandated by state law, the report said. The woman’s name is expected to be known during a press conference Wednesday.

Update: The sole $590 million Powerball jackpot winner is 84-year-old Gloria C. MacKenzie, a widow retiree and mother of four.

She claimed her $370 million in lump sum and took home $270 million after federal taxes, lottery officials reportedly said.
