Vice Ganda issues public apology to Jessica Soho

Vice Ganda publicly apologized to GMA-7’s Jessica Soho. The actor-television host said Wednesday, May 29, 2013, that he called the veteran broadcast journalist to say sorry, but the latter declined to talk to him.

On “It’s Showtime,” Vice insisted that his remarks about Soho and the rape scene which he made during his recent “I-Vice Ganda Mo ‘Ko Sa Araneta” concert were meant to be jokes.

The Kapamilya performer said he knows that he cannot please everyone and some people may or may not find his jokes funny. Soho, he said, was obviously offended by his joke.

Soho is the vice president for News and Public Affairs of GMA, leading competitor of Vice Ganda’s home network, ABS-CBN.

In his concert’s third segment titled “Vice Ganda XXX,” the TV host reportedly mentioned several names in the industry, Soho among them, and apparently asked: what if they were bold stars.

At first, Vice joked about Soho’s weight. After which, he described a possible scenario if Soho has a “rape scene” in a movie.

On Wednesday, Vice said that in the whole concert segment, he also made mention of other Kapamilya personalities including Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Kim Atienza, and ABS-CBN reporter Gus Abelgas, as well as singers Aiza Seguerra and Charice, and politicians Nancy Binay and Rizza Hontiveros.

Among those cited, only Soho reacted and got offended. But Vice accepted his mistakes and said he’s sorry for what he’s done.

“Buong puso kong gustong humingi ng tawad ke Jessica Soho,” said Vice, who claimed he tried to call the TV executive Wednesday morning. He said Soho answered the phone but refused to talk to him, saying she was not in a good mood.

Vice said he understands Soho’s reaction and believes that she is not ready to forgive him. The box-office star promised not to make Soho a subject of his jokes ever again.

Soho, meanwhile, had acknowledged the comedian’s public apology.
