Google Page Rank | May 2013 PR Update

Google has apparently updated the page ranks of websites and blogs. Although there’s no confirmation yet, the PR update took place on May 21, 2013.

From Wikipedia: “PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of ‘measuring’" its relative importance within the set.”

Tech sites say Google Page Rank updates occur four times a year. The first PR update made its way on February 4 and there has been anticipation that the second one happens this month.

Members of a bloggers group broke the news on Facebook Tuesday morning. Some of them said their sites’ PR decreased from PR 2 to PR 0. Those who were hit admitted guilt on link selling, which is a big no-no.

According to search engine optimization (SEO) experts, bloggers should avoid publishing guest posts, duplicate content, and articles containing paid links to get through the Google PR update.
