Dwayne Johnson undergoes emergency hernia surgery

Dwayne Johnson underwent an emergency hernia surgery. It forced the pro-wrestling superstar turned actor to miss the premiere of his new movie “Pain & Gain” in LA.

A hernia is the protrusion of an organ through the wall of the cavity that normally contains it. The surgical operation reportedly took place after The Rock’s April 7 title defense match with John Cena for WrestleMania 29.

On his Twitter account, the Hollywood star revealed that he suffered a serious injury in his midsection.

“In the middle of last night’s Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & abductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job,” tweeted Johnson, who co-stars with Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming action-comedy-crime film that will hit theaters Friday.

“But as we know...It’s all about #JustBringIt. WWE Universe, THANK YOU for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me. #LeaveItAllInTheRing,” his status message on April 8 read.

Johnson’s representative confirmed through E! News that he underwent an emergency hernia surgery on April 22 and is recovering at home.
