PNoy lands on the 2013 TIME 100
An article on Time.com says the magazine commends the 53-year-old bachelor president for steering the Philippine economy and taking a fearless stand on sensitive issues in the country and region, particularly on the territorial dispute with China over the West Philippine Sea.

Under Aquino’s presidency, the magazine says “the sputtering economy stabilized and became hot.”

“Aquino pushed through a reproductive-rights law that many said was impossible in the fervently Catholic nation. Most important, he became the face of the regional confrontation with Beijing over its claim to virtually all of the South China Sea. It is a brave stance,” it added.

MalacaƱang, meanwhile, said that upon being informed of his inclusion in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential for 2013, PNoy responded with a message for the Filipino People: “Ito po ay dahil sa inyong lahat.”

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said it’s the first time President Benigno Aquino III appeared on the list.
