Kris Aquino resigns from ABS-CBN, gives up showbiz career amid controversy vs James Yap

Kris Aquino has announced that she is tendering her resignation from ABS-CBN shows. The television host said Thursday she’s giving up her showbiz career for the sake of her son Bimby.

The “Queen of All Media” has three shows on the Kapamilya network: the daily morning talk show “Kris TV,” the primetime action-drama series “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” and the reality talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT).

In a live interview on TV Patrol, Kris talked about the incident involving her ex-husband James Yap, whom she accused of making “overt sexual advances” on her and inflicting psychological harm on their 5-year-old son.

Kris had filed for a temporary protection order against the basketball star before a Makati City court.

The TPO, which was granted and takes in effect for thirty days, mandates that James cannot approach Kris, Bimby and the housemaids at a distance of less than 100 meters.

According to her legal counsel, Atty. Frank Chavez, James has to also “stay away from the residence, school, place of employment and any specified place recounted by Kris, the minor and the household members.”

The legal counsel reportedly made another petition for the TPO to become permanent. Reports said the hearing was rescheduled on April 8 to 10.

As reported by Yahoo! OMG Philippines, Chavez said the incident occured on December 3, 2012. James allegedly “attemped to inflict himself on the mother in the presence of the child” which “freaked out the child.”

Bimby, Chavez said, “placed himself between the parents and pushed the father out of the room, slammed the door and locked it.”

He said James broke also his promise to give Bimby an X-Box with the condition that “the child will go see him in Serendra.” Bimby went their but there was no gift, Chavez reportedly said.

“On March 8, [James] wanted to talk to the child, but the child refused to talk to him,” Chavez added.

Meanwhile, Kris said during the March 21 interview with news anchor Ted Failon that she felt “violated” as a woman when James tried to seduce her. She said her ex-husband abused his visitational rights.

“Yung pagpasok niya sa kwarto ko, pagtangkang paghalik sakin, nilabag niya yung batas,” the TV host said in the presence of her sisters Ballsy, Pinky, and Viel.

Kris shed tears and became very emotional during the interview, which consumed the remaining airtime of the news program.

“I’m stating this now categorically, I have to make a sacrifice. They don’t deserve this, my family doesn’t deserve this suffering. I don’t want to be selfish for the rest of my life. Humihingi ako ng paumanhin lalong-lalo na sa lahat ng katrabaho ko na nandito ngayon pero sana maunawaan ninyo ako, I have to do what’s best for my son and that means sacrificing this career, sacrificing this job,” Kris said while crying.

“I’m giving up my shows. Tinatalikuran ko yung mundo na bumuhay sakin dahil higit sa karera ko mas mahal ko ang anak ko. Sa puso ng isang nanay, ito ang idinidikta sa akin na gawin ko ito para sa anak ko,” she added.
