Parks, who was inducted to the PBA Hall of Fame in 2009, succumbed to the deadly disease at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.
Other news providers reported that he died after a long battle with lung cancer, which developed from his previously untreated laryngeal cancer.

Parks was a seven-time Best Import in the Philippine Basketball Association while playing for San Miguel and Formula Shell, the ABS-CBN report said.
He made his PBA debut with San Miguel in 1987 then played for Formula Shell up to 1998. He led his team to five championships.
In addition to basketball, Parks also appeared in several Filipino movies.
