Alapag, Dillinger tax evasion cases filed

Jimmy Alapag and Jared Dillinger were both charged with tax evasion. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) filed the cases against the PBA players at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Alapag and Dillinger play for the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters team in the Philippine Basketball Association, the country’s premier play-for-pay league.

According to an ABS-CBN News report, Alapag was assessed a total tax liability of P17.86 million for taxable years 2007 to 2010 and between 2007 to 2012 for value-added tax returns (VAT). He earned some P32.28 million, the BIR reportedly said.

The agency alleged that Dillinger did not file his income tax returns from 2008 to 2011 as well as his percentage tax return for 2008, and failed to file his VAT returns from 2009 to 2012.

Earning some P22.19 million as a cager according to BIR, Dillinger was assessed a total tax liability amounting to P13.37 million.
