Man suspected of firing shot that killed stray bullet victim Stephanie Nicole Ella arrested

A man suspected of firing the shot that killed 7-year-old stray bullet victim Stephanie Nicole Ella has been arrested by police Thursday evening.

A breaking news report on ABS-CBN’s primetime news program ‘TV Patrol’ said the suspect was identified as Juan Agos, an ex-military man.

Agos reportedly admitted he fired his gun, a .45-caliber pistol, on New Year’s Eve in an area near the victim’s home in Caloocan City.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory said the bullet that hit the head of Ella was from a caliber-45 handgun. Probers were also able to establish that the shooter was “more or less 50 meters away” from her.

Police are expected to interrogate the suspect, who is an armed forces reservist, and conduct tests to find out whether or not the bullets in his gun match with the slug found on Ella’s head.

The victim was watching a fireworks display with relatives outside their residence on December 31 when a stray bullet hit her head. She died at the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City two days later.
