FDA orders recall of Korean noodles

The Food and Drug Admistration has ordered the recall of six Korean noodle products found by the Korean FDA to contain Benzopyrene, a chemical that may cause cancer.

The Korean instant noodles were identified as:
  1. Nongshim Neoguri (Hot)
  2. Nongshim Neoguri (Hot) Multi
  3. Nongshim Neoguri (Mild)
  4. Nongshim Big Bowl Noodle Shrimp
  5. Nongshim Saengsaeng Udon Bowl Noodle
  6. Nongshim Saengsaeng Udon
These products will be subjected to inventory checks and laboratory tests, the FDA said.

The agency urged the public not to buy the recalled Korean noodles and to report stores that are still selling them. FDA’s hotlines are 807-8275 and 807-0751.

China, Vietnam and Taiwan have reportedly made similar recalls.
