Julie Ann Rodelas rape slay suspects to be charged with murder, illegal possession of firearms

The suspects in the Julie Ann Rodelas rape-slay case will be charged with murder and illegal possession of firearms, according to reports on Monday, November 12.

Althea Altamirano and her boyfriend, Fernando Quiambao Jr., were arrested by police in Pampanga on Saturday. Two more suspects, Gelen Pasewilan and Jaymar Waradge, were arrested in Culiat, Quezon City over the weekend.

Killed during the follow-up operation was a suspect identified as Bob Usman. Authorities are reportedly hunting down two more unnamed individuals allegedly involved in the rape and killing of Rodelas, a model and television talent.

Citing a police report, a Philstar.com news article said Rodelas was with Altamirano, her friend, when she was abducted near the World Trade Center in Pasay City past midnight Tuesday.

Several hours later, Rodelas was shot dead and pushed from a Mitsubishi Montero in Cubao. Records show that the vehicle is registered to Quiambao’s mother, the report said.

A CCTV camera caught Quiambao on video buying burger at a fastfood restaurant in Ermita, Manila. The time of his purchase reportedly coincided with the time printed on the official receipt found on the victim’s body.

Altamirano, on the other hand, was the one who reported the abduction to the Pasay police, but she was purportedly tagged by her boyfriend as part of the crime.

In an interview, Altamirano admitted that she only wanted to teach Rodelas “a lesson” for allegedly spreading rumors that she had two children (which turned out to be true). Altamirano said she didn’t know that her friend was going to be killed. She was allegedly told by her boyfriend that Rodelas would just be beaten.

Altamirano cried hard and was sorry for the victim’s death, but said she knows asking forgiveness will not anymore bring her friend back to life.
