Driver of fuel tanker that exploded in Riyadh an OFW

The driver of the fuel tanker that exploded in a flyover in Riyadh is a Filipino, the Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed on Monday, November 5.

Speaking to cable news channel ANC, DFA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez said the Filipino overseas worker is now being investigated by Saudi authorities.

The Filipino driver involved in the Riyadh blast that killed several people including another Filipino truck driver, Florentino Santiago, and hurt 12 others, has been identified as Ruben Kebeng, Philippine ambassador Ezzedin Tago told Arab News.

Reports said representatives from the Philippine embassy in Riyadh were denied entry to the facility where the OFW is being detained for questioning.

Hernandez said the DFA will provide a lawyer to defend the Filipino tanker driver.
