Azkals lose to Thailand (AFF Suzuki Cup 2012)

Down one man and playing with no head coach, the Philippine Azkals lost to the hometeam Thailand War Elephants, 2-1, in the AFF Suzuki Cup at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday, November 24.

Thai winger Jakkrapan Pornsai made the first goal in the game at the 39th minute. Left back player Anucha Kitpongsri added another one 2 minutes later.

Azkals midfielder Paul Mulders scored at the 77th minute, keeping the game alive for the Philippines. But the momentum stopped when coach Hans Michael Weiss got ejected after the referees saw him throwing the ball to a Thai player.

The Azkals landed at the bottom of the Group A ranking. Thailand is leading by 3 points, followed by Vietnam and Myanmar who are sharing the second spot with 1 point each.

The Philippines will face Vietnam on Tuesday, November 27.
