Ateneo wins UAAP 75 championship title — UAAP 75 Finals Game 2 result, video replay

Five-peat! The Ateneo Blue Eagles has written history as they beat the UST Growling Tigers, 65-62, to win the UAAP Season 75 championship title for the 5th year in a row.

The very tight Game 2 of the UAAP Finals, witnessed by more than 20,000 spectators, was held at the Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, October 11, 2012.

It was a close game in the first three quarters, but ADMU showed experience and determination to achieve their goal for a 5-peat.

Ateneo survived the attacks of the hungry UST team and started to pull ahead with eight points less than seven minutes left in the final period.

The Blue Eagles tried to slow down the game with four minutes remaining as both teams entered into penalty. Playing tight defense, the Growling Tigers were able to cut down the lead to only two at 2:05 left in the game.

UST didn’t want to give up, but Ateneo played better and was eventually declared the UAAP 75 champions!

With ADMU’s victory, Norman black joined Baby Dalupan as elite coaches with five wins or more in the league’s history.

In a post-game interview, Black credited UST for putting up a good fight in the Finals. The winning coach said he already predicted since the start of the season that UST was a team to beat.

Nico Salva, meanwhile, was named the Finals MVP for Season 75.
